Dunstable Select Board Approves $28,693 in Union Building Roof Change Orders
DUNSTABLE — July 3, 2025 — Dunstable Select Board approves $28,693 in change orders for historic Union Building slate roof. Meeting remotely on July 3, Chair Leah D. Basbanes and Member Ronald Mikol voted unanimously to approve two change orders submitted by the project contractor and reviewed by the owner's project manager — $3,193.02 for rotted wood sheathing in the connector building and $25,500 for additional deteriorated slate shingles, the latter contingent on photographic verification of quantities. The Union Building Committee had recommended approval of both at its meeting the prior evening. The board also voted unanimously to delegate authority to town administrator Jason to approve future change orders under $10,000 without board review, relying on the owner's project manager's recommendation, in order to avoid scheduling delays. A consultant flagged a potential additional cost item: roughly 200 improperly reinstalled shingles that may require flashing repairs, though no formal proposal has been issued.
