Dunstable Community Power sets new 2-year rates
Dunstable Community Power announced new fixed electricity prices for December 2026 through December 2028; most participants will still pay less than National Grid's current rate, and no action is required to stay enrolled.
The town of Dunstable announced Nov. 2 that Dunstable Community Power, the town's municipal group electricity buying program, will move to new fixed prices for a two-year period starting in December.
Under the new rates, the Dunstable Standard option, in which most participants are enrolled, will cost 16.545 cents per kilowatt-hour, below National Grid's current residential Basic Service price of 17.185 cents per kilowatt-hour. The Dunstable Green option, which continues to provide electricity entirely from renewable sources, will cost 18.969 cents per kilowatt-hour. The town noted that National Grid's price is fixed only through Jan. 31, 2027, so savings beyond that date cannot be guaranteed.
Since the program launched in June 2025, it has saved Dunstable electricity customers more than $100,000 compared with National Grid's prices.
Current participants do not need to take any action. The new prices will take effect automatically in December and will appear on January electric bills. The program's supplier will remain Dynegy, and bills will continue to show "Dynegy, Dunstable Community Power."
Participation in the program remains optional, and residents may switch options or leave at any time without a fee or penalty. Those who want to make a change before the new prices begin should submit their request no later than 14 days before their December 2026 meter read date, which is listed on their November National Grid electric bill.
Residents can learn more, change their enrollment, or opt out by visiting the program website or calling customer support at 800-818-9409.
